Galaxy Z Fold 7 Is Samsung’s Thinnest Foldable Yet — But No S Pen Support

Samsung has officially launched the Galaxy Z Fold 7, its most significant foldable phone upgrade yet. The new model features larger displays, a thinner and lighter build, a powerful 200MP main camera, and several hardware and software enhancements—but it also comes at a higher price and drops support for the S Pen stylus.

    Larger Screens and Slimmer Design

The cover screen now measures 6.5 inches, up from 6.3 inches on the previous model, while the main foldable screen has grown from 7.6 to 8 inches, offering more space for multitasking. Both use Samsung’s Dynamic AMOLED 2X panels with a smooth 1–120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of 2,600 nits.

The Fold 7 is also Samsung’s slimmest foldable yet, measuring just 8.9mm when folded and 4.2mm when open, thanks to the redesigned Armor Flex Hinge and stronger Armor Aluminum frame. The device weighs 215 grams, making it lighter than its predecessor and even the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

    Upgraded Cameras and Performance

The phone boasts a new 200MP main camera using the same sensor as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, alongside a 10MP 3x telephoto lens and a 12MP ultra-wide camera. The under-display camera from previous models has been removed in favor of a 10MP punch-hole selfie camera on the main screen.

Powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, the Fold 7 comes with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. It also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4, and runs on Android 16 with One UI 8, including Samsung’s Galaxy AI suite. Samsung promises 7 years of Android updates and security patches.

    Stylus Support Removed, Same Battery

In a surprising move, S Pen support has been dropped, which may disappoint users who valued the Fold for productivity. Samsung hasn’t explained the reason, but the removal aligns with other stylus-related changes in the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The battery remains unchanged at 4,400mAh, supporting 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse charging.

    Pricing, Availability, and Colors

Pre-orders for the Galaxy Z Fold 7 are now open, with general sales beginning July 25. The device starts at $2,000 for the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage version. Other configurations include:

    • 12GB/512GB: $2,120
    • 16GB/1TB: $2,420

Color options include Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black, and a Mint version exclusive to Samsung’s online store.
