Samsung Galaxy S26 News: No Plus Model, New Edge Variant?

Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S26 series is taking shape as two variants have been spotted in the IMEI database. The listings, uncovered by SammyPolice, include the Galaxy S26 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Edge, suggesting development is on track.

The Galaxy S26 Edge carries the model number SM-S947U, while the Ultra appears in two versions: SM-S948U for the US market and SM-S948N for South Korea.

The early appearance of the Edge variant fuels rumors that Samsung might discontinue the Galaxy S26 Plus. The Galaxy S25 Edge launched just last month, and having its successor already in the pipeline hints at a shift in the lineup.

However, some reports suggest the Galaxy S26 Plus could still survive. The replacement of the Plus with the Edge might depend on the sales performance of the Galaxy S25 Edge, which has not been strong. It’s also possible Samsung could keep the Plus and adjust the Edge’s launch timeline.

Details on the Galaxy S26 series reveal it will likely use either the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 or Samsung Exynos 2600 chipset, depending on the region. Rumors of an earlier launch seem unlikely, as the Galaxy S25 Ultra was spotted in the IMEI database around the same time last year.

Samsung appears to be sticking to a familiar formula for its next flagship phones. A welcome rumor suggests all models might come with 16GB of RAM.

The phones could also integrate Perplexity AI. The Galaxy S26 Ultra might keep its 5,000mAh battery but lose the S Pen slot. The base model is rumored to feature a new ISOCELL GN sensor.

For now, fans await more confirmation on the lineup and features as development continues.
