Comedian Ricky Gervais has revealed details about his upcoming global tour and accompanying Netflix special.
Titled ‘Ricky Gervais: Mortality,’ the tour is scheduled to kick off later this year and extend until the conclusion of 2025, encompassing Gervais’s preferred venues worldwide.
The special will be recorded for a future release on Netflix. In a statement, Gervais humorously remarked, “We’re all gonna die. May as well have a laugh about it. Mortality looks at the absurdities of life. And death. Bring it on.
“Gervais has enjoyed a successful partnership with Netflix, with his recent special ‘Armageddon’ earning a Golden Globe, claiming the top spot on Netflix’s most-watched list, and holding the record for the highest-grossing comedy special globally.
Despite past controversies surrounding Gervais’s specials related to anti-trans comments, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has stood by the comedian, emphasizing the importance of free expression in American culture.
