PS Plus Members Get 5 Days Free After PSN Outage

Sony has announced that all PlayStation Plus (PS Plus) members will receive a five-day extension to their current subscription as compensation for the recent PSN outage.

The outage, which lasted almost an entire day on Saturday, was the longest since the infamous 2011 hack.

PSN services have since resumed, and Sony took to its English-speaking support page, Ask PlayStation, to offer an apology and confirm the extra days of service.

The statement reads, “Network services have fully recovered from an operational issue. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank the community for their patience. All PlayStation Plus members will automatically receive an additional five days of service.”

While outages are a common occurrence with online services, this one was particularly disruptive due to its duration and widespread impact. Despite the inconvenience, Sony’s offer of five extra days of PS Plus service seems like a fair compensation for the downtime.

The best part? You don’t have to take any action to receive the free time. It will automatically be added to your existing PS Plus subscription.

Sony has yet to comment on any future steps to prevent such long outages but hopes to recover faster in case anything similar happens again.
