OpenAI is working on its next AI model, internally referred to as “o3.” This follows the release of the o1 model and speculation that the company will skip the name “o2” due to potential conflicts with O2, a British telecom provider.
Sam Altman, OpenAI’s CEO, recently hinted at the update on X, posting, “Fine one clue, should have said oh oh oh.”
The o1 model was fully released during OpenAI’s “12 Days of Shipping” event. It includes features like reasoning controls, structured outputs, and vision inputs.
Meanwhile, Google recently launched Gemini 2.0 Flash Thinking, an AI model with advanced reasoning and problem-solving capabilities.
The model showcases its internal thought process, providing more transparency in AI operations. Developers can test it through Google AI Studio and the Gemini API.
As OpenAI’s “12 Days of Shipping” wraps up, the tech community eagerly awaits further announcements.
