Nintendo Switch 2 Will Fight Scalpers, Confirms Nintendo President

Nintendo has confirmed that it is taking strong measures to prevent scalpers from buying up the upcoming Switch 2. The company wants to make sure that real gamers can get their hands on the console when it launches.

Scalpers have been a major problem in gaming. When the PlayStation 5 and the original Nintendo Switch launched, resellers bought large amounts of stock and sold them at high prices. This made it difficult for regular buyers to purchase the consoles at fair prices.

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa addressed this issue in a recent statement to Nikkei. He said that the company is preparing for the Switch 2 launch by learning from past experiences.

“We will take all possible measures based on the experience we have accumulated to date (regarding scalpers and the like). We are making preparations,” Furukawa stated.

While he did not reveal specific details, it is clear that Nintendo is taking this issue seriously. Reports suggest that the company may have delayed the console’s launch from late 2024 to ensure enough stock is available at release.

Fans will learn more about the Nintendo Switch 2 during an official showcase in April. This event is expected to reveal the console’s full design, features, and possibly even a release date.

Until then, gamers can at least be hopeful that buying a Switch 2 will not be as difficult as it was for previous consoles.
