Nintendo Blames Market Conditions for New Switch Price Hikes

Nintendo has confirmed that prices for its original Switch consoles and accessories are going up. The increase will affect the standard Nintendo Switch, the Switch OLED, the Switch Lite, and some accessories.

The price hike starts after this weekend. Nintendo did not say the exact new prices, but store listings have shown increases between $30 and $50.

At one point, Target’s website showed the original Switch priced at $339.99, up from $299.99. The Switch OLED went up to $399.99, and the Switch Lite showed a price of $229.99. These changes have since been removed from the site, but they suggest what’s coming.

Prices are also rising in Canada, where the increase just took effect. The Switch and Switch Lite are now $20 CAD more expensive, and the Switch OLED is up $40 CAD.

Nintendo says the changes are due to “market conditions.” However, the timing closely follows a new U.S. tariff policy. President Donald Trump recently signed an executive order that adds tariffs on goods from Vietnam, where Nintendo moved much of its production to avoid earlier tariffs on Chinese goods.

The Switch 2 prices are not changing, but some Switch 2 accessories, amiibo, and a product called the Alarmo will also see price increases.

Switch and Switch 2 game prices, both physical and digital, will stay the same for now.
