Nicki Minaj Takes Shots at Shannon Sharpe, Jay-Z & NFL on “Banned From NO” Remix

Nicki Minaj is stirring the pot with her new remix of Lil Wayne’s “Banned From NO,” released earlier today (June 11). Fans were excited to hear Nicki on the track, but even more surprised when they caught some pointed shots aimed at TV personality Shannon Sharpe and even Jay-Z.

In the verse that’s causing buzz, Nicki raps: “’Bout to cop you slides, all you do is flip-flop / If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that Sharpe.” The line is a clear jab at Sharpe, stemming from a post where he once shaded Minaj with a “Nicki Who?” tweet. Fans might have forgotten — but Nicki clearly didn’t.

Responding to the speculation on social media, Nicki explained that she remembered the insult and used this remix as her moment to respond. She even admitted that she nearly mentioned Chad Ochocinco, Sharpe’s Nightcap co-host, but chose not to.

    Nicki Minaj vs. NFL?

Elsewhere in the track, Nicki seemingly took aim at the NFL over this year’s Super Bowl Halftime Show. Many fans were upset that Lil Wayne, a New Orleans native, wasn’t selected to perform at the New Orleans Super Bowl. Instead, the spot went to Kendrick Lamar.

Nicki raps: “NFL, fire some n****s and then call us,” hinting at frustration with the league’s handling of representation and decisions around performers. While Jay-Z isn’t mentioned by name, his well-known partnership with the NFL made the connection clear for many listeners.

    Nicki Returns to Form

This surprise remix is especially exciting for Nicki Minaj fans, who were disappointed she didn’t appear on the original Tha Carter VI release. With her fiery bars and signature energy, the remix of “Banned From NO” has quickly become a fan favorite.

As the rap world buzzes about the remix, many are now wondering: will Nicki keep the pressure going? And will we finally see that rumored Drake, Lil Wayne, and Nicki Minaj tour?

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
