Google is releasing a new software update for Chromecast with Google TV devices.
The update, numbered STTL.240812.006.N1, is about 60 MB in size and includes bug fixes and performance improvements.
The device stays on the September 2024 security patch and Android 12. This is the eighth update in 2024, showing more frequent updates compared to 2023’s six updates.
Users can install the update by:
- Going to Settings
- Selecting System
- Choosing About
- Clicking System update
This update might come before a larger Android 14 update. The upcoming major update is expected to add “Home runtime,” which will let Chromecast work as a hub for Matter smart home devices.
