Meta has rolled out the Horizon OS 74.0 update, bringing several useful improvements to the Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest 2, and Quest Pro. While this update does not introduce major new features, it enhances the VR experience with better multitasking, improved casting, and smarter room scanning.
One of the key changes is the ability to add web links to the app library, allowing users to quickly access services like Netflix that no longer have dedicated Quest apps. Multitasking has also been improved, with minimized apps now appearing as 2D thumbnail previews for easier navigation.
For VR content creators, Meta has upgraded the casting feature. Quest 3 now supports high-resolution, low-latency mirroring to external displays, making it easier to share gameplay and experiences with others.
Another important change is the update to secondary accounts. Non-admin users can now connect to the Meta Horizon phone app, making it easier to cast content to other devices. This solves a frustrating limitation that many users previously faced.
The update also improves room scanning, allowing players to move between rooms without resetting their play space. Additionally, Travel Mode—designed for flights—will now automatically activate when it detects that the user is on a plane.
The Horizon OS 74.0 update began rolling out on February 18 and is available for Meta Quest 3, Quest 3S, Quest 2, and Quest Pro. These updates make the Quest experience more seamless and user-friendly, enhancing both everyday use and content creation.
