A new rumor suggests that Letitia Wright could reprise her role as Shuri in Avengers: Doomsday, reigniting speculation about the future of Black Panther in the MCU.
According to industry insider Daniel Richtman, Wright’s Shuri is expected to appear in Avengers 5 & 6. However, it remains unclear whether she will still hold the mantle of Black Panther or if the title will be passed to another character.
Wright became the MCU’s Black Panther in Wakanda Forever following the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman. The film ended with Shuri meeting T’Challa’s son, hinting at a possible future successor to the role.
This has left fans wondering whether she will continue as the Wakandan hero in upcoming films or if Marvel will introduce a new Black Panther.
What’s Next for Black Panther in the MCU?
While Black Panther 3 has not been officially announced, Marvel Studios’ VP of Production & Development, Nate Moore, recently confirmed that discussions about the project will begin later this year.
Addressing rumors of a T’Challa recast, he stated, “There’s no truth to those rumors… We haven’t really had a lot of creative conversations with Ryan Coogler yet.”
Despite growing speculation, Marvel has yet to confirm whether Black Panther will play a role in Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for release on May 1, 2026. Until then, fans will have to wait for official updates on the future of Wakanda’s protector in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
