The iPhone 17 Pro is rumored to feature its first major front design change since the iPhone 14 Pro.
According to a leak from Chinese outlet My Drivers, the Dynamic Island will be smaller, thanks to a new metalens Face ID system.
Unlike traditional curved lenses, metalens uses nanostructured materials, making it flat and compact.
This could allow Apple to reduce the size of the Dynamic Island without compromising functionality. However, Face ID won’t move behind the screen just yet.
A concept image reveals slimmer bezels, hinting at a more refined look for the iPhone 17 Pro.
While analyst Jeff Pu predicts the metalens technology will only appear on the Pro Max model, other models might retain the current-sized Dynamic Island.
The report also fuels speculation about a potential horizontally stacked camera array, but Apple’s plans remain unclear. If accurate, these updates mark a step toward the much-anticipated all-glass iPhone.
