J. Cole Played ‘Let Nas Down’ for Nas on a Plane

J. Cole shared a surprising story on his podcast Inevitable. He revealed how he played his song “Let Nas Down” for Nas during a chance meeting at a Houston airport.

The moment happened just days after J. Cole recorded the song. His manager, Ibrahim “Ib” Hamad, was listening to the track when he noticed Nas boarding the same flight. J. Cole took this as a sign.

“I don’t believe in coincidences,” Cole said. “This was a sign from God.”

On the plane, Cole approached Nas and explained how random and special the moment was. Then, he asked Nas to listen to the song. Nas agreed, but he didn’t give much feedback after hearing it.

Released in 2013 on J. Cole’s Born Sinner album, the song was later remixed by Nas himself into “Made Nas Proud.” This showed Nas’s approval and respect for the younger rapper.

Cole called the experience surreal, even though he doesn’t remember Nas’s exact reaction. “It’s just nuts that I played it for him, that raw after it was done,” he added.

This story highlights a rare, divine-like moment in J. Cole’s career, where fate brought him face-to-face with one of his idols.
