Is This the Nintendo Switch 2? Alleged Images Spark Debate

Fans have gotten their best glimpse yet at the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 through a recent leak from an online listing.

Alleged Leak From Amazon Japan

The leak comes from an Amazon Japan listing for a protective case from LAZIRO, which included several images that appear to show the full console.

These images have sparked a wave of speculation about the design and features of the Switch 2.

Notable Design Changes

The alleged images reveal a console that is slightly larger than the original Switch, with several changes.

These include new buttons along the top of the device, altered triggers, and a new hinged kickstand that runs the length of the console.

The Joy-Con controllers also appear to be wider than those of the original Switch.

Extra Buttons and Speculation

One of the most interesting details in the images is an extra button on the right Joy-Con, below the Home button.

This has led to speculation that the button could be used for wireless game casting to the Nintendo Switch dock, allowing for big-screen play without physically docking the console.

Concerns Over Authenticity

While these leaks have generated a lot of buzz, there are some signs that the images may not be authentic.

For example, the layout of the A, B, X, and Y buttons is inconsistent with previous Nintendo consoles, with the Y and X buttons swapped on the right Joy-Con.

This could be a rendering mistake or an attempt to downplay the authenticity of the leak.

What’s Next for the Switch 2?

Despite the leaks, Nintendo has remained tight-lipped about the Switch 2.

The company has only confirmed a few details, and while an official announcement is expected before the end of March, fans are eagerly awaiting more information.

The Switch 2 is expected to launch sometime in 2025.
