No More Notch? iPhone 18 Pro May Feature Under-Display Face ID

Apple may finally remove the notch from its iPhone Pro lineup. A new rumor from China claims that Apple is testing under-display Face ID for the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, expected to launch in September 2026.

If the testing succeeds, the two Pro models will use a single hole-punch for the front camera. The rest of the Face ID system would sit under the display, offering full security without taking up screen space.

This would be a big visual change for the iPhone, matching what Android phones have already done—but with Apple’s advanced 3D face scanning technology intact.

The standard iPhone 18 and iPhone 18 Air are expected to keep the current notch design for now. A foldable iPhone is also rumored to be testing this under-display Face ID tech.

While nothing is confirmed yet, if Apple moves ahead with this feature, it could mark the end of the notch era for Pro iPhones.
