Infinix has introduced its latest SolarEnergy-Reserving technology at MWC 2025, featuring a smartphone with a built-in solar panel and a solar charging phone case.
These innovative concepts could offer a more sustainable solution for smartphone users in the future.
SolarEnergy-Reserving Technology
The new technology uses perovskite solar cells, which are thinner and cheaper to produce than traditional silicon solar cells.
These cells are paired with a Maximum Power Point Tracking system that regulates voltage and prevents overheating while maximizing power output.
The solar charging system can generate up to 2W of power, allowing devices to recharge gradually when not in use.
Solar Charging Phone and Case
Infinix showcased two concepts at MWC 2025 — a smartphone with an integrated solar panel on the back and a solar charging phone case.
The solar-powered case connects to the phone through small side contacts, making it a convenient option for users who want extra power during outdoor activities or emergencies.
The removable solar case allows users to swap between regular and solar-powered cases depending on their needs, offering more flexibility without compromising the phone’s design.
Color-Changing E Ink Phone
Infinix also introduced its second-generation color-changing E Ink phone at the event. Unlike its predecessor, which only changed colors when plugged in, the new model uses the phone’s internal battery to power the color-changing back panel.
The design is customizable, allowing users to select different patterns and palettes based on photos or even weather conditions.
Future Possibilities
While both the solar-powered phone and case remain in the concept phase, these innovations highlight the potential of sustainable smartphone technology.
If brought to market, they could offer a practical solution for users in regions with limited access to electricity or those looking for eco-friendly alternatives.
