The first update for the Google TV Streamer in 2025 is rolling out now, bringing several improvements and fixes.
The update, with version number UTTK.241210.003, is a significant upgrade from the previous version (UTT3.240625.001), and it includes a new Android security patch for January 2025, replacing the August 2024 patch.
At 329 MB, this update is much larger than the 35.35 MB update released in November 2024. It comes with bug fixes and performance enhancements, similar to updates seen in Chromecast devices.
The update also includes a firmware upgrade for the Voice Remote, now moving from version 1.00 to 1.02. To apply this update, users should reboot their Google TV Streamer.
Notably, users have reported that this update resolves an issue with Dolby Atmos, which was previously getting stuck.
Additionally, Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio are no longer detected as codecs. Connected webcams are also more reliably detected after this update.
To get the 2025 update, go to Settings > System > About > System Update on your Google TV Streamer.
