Google has revealed its new NotebookLM app, set to launch for Android and iPhone users during I/O 2025. After teasing the app last month, the company showcased the design, offering a glimpse of its features and functionality.
The app’s homepage includes tabs for Recent, Shared, Title, and Downloaded items. Below these tabs, users can find their notebooks, each with a prominent play button that launches an Audio Overview.
Google promises background playback and offline support, so users can enjoy content even without an internet connection. The app also features a fullscreen player with a fun waveform, and users can join podcasts to ask AI hosts questions and follow-ups.
A large “Create new” button is placed at the bottom of the screen. Users can upload PDFs, websites, YouTube videos, or paste text into their notebooks. NotebookLM will also appear in the system’s share sheet for quick addition of sources.
When opening a notebook, a bottom bar layout provides access to Sources, Chat, and Studio tools. This native experience will replace the current Progressive Web App (PWA) for most users. Additionally, Google shared the tablet interface for NotebookLM, giving users a seamless experience across devices.
The app will enter beta in the coming weeks, with a full launch expected on May 20, the first day of I/O 2025. Interested users can pre-register for the app on both the Google Play Store and the iOS App Store.
