Google Fiber is rolling out simpler internet plans in Huntsville, Alabama, and Nashville, Tennessee.

The new Core 1 Gig, Home 3 Gig, and Edge 8 Gig plans replace the previous 1 Gig, 2 Gig, 5 Gig, and 8 Gig options, aiming to provide clearer and more streamlined choices for customers.

These new plans, launched last month, offer better speeds and added features for users.

The Core 1 Gig plan, priced at $70 per month, offers symmetrical 1 Gbps upload and download speeds. It includes a GFiber Multi-Gig Wi-Fi 6E router and supports one mesh extender.

The Home 3 Gig plan costs $100 per month and offers speeds up to 3 Gbps. It includes the same Wi-Fi 6E router, up to two mesh extenders, and a new feature called “priority room optimization.”

This ensures that your most important rooms have better wired connectivity. For an additional $10 per month, subscribers can add an internet battery backup, providing up to two hours of full-speed internet during power outages.

Finally, the Edge 8 Gig plan, priced at $150 per month, provides speeds of up to 8 Gbps, with the same Wi-Fi router and up to two mesh extenders.

It also covers up to 5,000 square feet, offers priority room optimization, and includes the internet backup battery. Additionally, customers will receive a 25% refund if their internet goes down for over 45 minutes.

While these new plans are currently available in just two cities, Google Fiber has hinted that more details will be shared in the new year about potential expansions.

The company continues to expand its fiber network across the US, offering faster speeds and more coverage, with a 20-gig Wi-Fi 7 plan already available in select cities.
