Global Scam Call Ring Exposed as Two Tech Executives Plead Guilty

Two former business executives in the United States have pleaded guilty to helping run services that supported large-scale tech-support scams targeting victims worldwide.

Adam Young, 42, and Harrison Gevirtz, 33, admitted they provided telecom services—such as phone numbers, call routing, and tracking—to clients they knew were involved in fraud. Both pleaded guilty to misprision of a felony and are due to be sentenced on June 16, 2026.

Prosecutors say the pair knowingly worked with scammers who tricked victims using fake pop-up warnings about viruses or malware. These messages pushed people to call helplines, where they were convinced to pay hundreds of dollars for unnecessary or fake tech support. In some cases, scammers gained remote access to victims’ computers and stole personal or financial data.

The case follows a wider investigation that began in 2020 and led to multiple convictions, including several individuals based in India and a former employee of the company. Authorities found that call centers overseas relied on the defendants’ systems to route scam calls and even received advice on how to avoid complaints and keep their operations running.

Court documents state that between 2016 and 2022, Young and Gevirtz were aware of the illegal activities but failed to report them. Instead, they allegedly helped clients dodge detection, reduce complaints, and even trade fraudulent calls with one another. The two also operated a call center in Tunisia where some workers took part in similar scams.

According to the FBI, tech-support scams continue to cause major financial damage. Officials say Americans lost around $2.1 billion to such schemes in a single year, with millions more reported in smaller regions.

Investigators say the executives not only ignored warnings from telecom providers and law enforcement but also encouraged employees to promote their services to known fraudsters. The case is being handled by U.S. federal prosecutors following a multi-year investigation.
