Flappy Bird Returns on Epic Games Store with New Features, No Crypto

Flappy Bird has officially returned after more than 10 years, now available on the Epic Games Store for Android devices. The classic mobile game, known for its simple tap-to-fly gameplay, has been rebooted without any crypto or blockchain elements.

The new version is developed by a different team under the name Flappy Bird Publishing. It includes the original Classic Mode and a new Quest Mode, which adds new characters, levels, and obstacles. This fresh content is designed to appeal to fans of the original game as well as new players.

In 2013, the original Flappy Bird was created by Vietnamese developer Dong Nguyen. It quickly became a viral hit but was removed from app stores in 2014 due to concerns over its addictive nature. Nguyen no longer owns the trademark, which is now held by a group that formed the Flappy Bird Foundation.

Last year, the foundation launched a crypto-based version of Flappy Bird on Telegram, but it was met with strong backlash. Nguyen publicly rejected the project, saying he did not support crypto. That version quietly ended earlier this year.

The new Epic Games Store release makes it clear that this is a Web2-only game. Developers have stated there will be no tokens, no NFTs, and no blockchain features. Monetization will come from ads and in-app purchases only.

Future updates are expected, including a possible iOS version. The developers promise all official announcements will come through trusted channels.
