DJ Akademiks has announced the launch of his new record label, Akademy Records, with a massive $25 million investment.

The media personality and music industry figure revealed his signing of Toronto artists Top5, Pressa, and others in a New Year’s Eve video posted on social media.

Akademiks expressed his excitement over the deal, boasting about the $5 million signing bonuses given to each artist. “I dropped a $25 million bag. I had to do it,” he said, highlighting the scale of the investment.

He also emphasized his role in the success of the label, stating, “When these guys drop, big Ak is behind them. There’s no bigger voice than me.”

Despite Akademiks’ confidence, reactions on social media have been mixed. Fans have questioned the potential success of Akademy Records, with some expressing skepticism about the label’s direction and the artists involved.

Top5, known for his recent headlines and ongoing feud with Kendrick Lamar, has also been a part of the controversy, particularly after making bold statements about Lamar during a livestream in September.

The launch of Akademy Records marks a significant move for DJ Akademiks, signaling his deeper involvement in the music industry beyond his media presence.
