Delta Force, the modern free-to-play reboot of the classic tactical FPS, is getting its much-anticipated Black Hawk Down campaign on February 21.

Developer Team Jade, a Tencent subsidiary, announced the release date alongside a new teaser trailer.

A Remake of a Classic War Shooter

The Black Hawk Down campaign is a remake of the 2003 Delta Force: Black Hawk Down, which itself was based on real events from the 1993 Somali Civil War.

The new DLC will let players relive the intense urban combat in Mogadishu, Somalia, where a US military task force fought to survive after a mission went wrong.

What to Expect From the DLC

  • No Microtransactions: Team Jade confirmed the campaign won’t include microtransactions.
  • Co-Op Play: Players can experience the story-driven action together.
  • Delayed, but Coming Soon: Originally set for January, the campaign is now releasing February 21.
  • Price Still Unknown: Team Jade hasn’t revealed the cost yet, but more details are coming soon.

Delta Force Multiplayer Keeps Growing

For players who aren’t interested in single-player, Delta Force’s free multiplayer continues to evolve. The game features:

  • Warfare Mode: Large-scale battles with vehicles and massive player counts, similar to Battlefield.
  • Extraction Mode: An intense survival-focused mode.
  • Hot Zone Mode: A 3v3v3 squad-based experience.

Currently, Delta Force is only available on PC, but console and mobile versions are expected later this year.

Battlefield vs. Delta Force?

With its large-scale battles and tactical gameplay, Delta Force is drawing comparisons to EA’s Battlefield series.

Meanwhile, Battlefield’s next entry is also in the works, with EA introducing Battlefield Labs, a new community-driven testing program aimed at avoiding the issues that plagued Battlefield 2042.

Whether Delta Force’s Black Hawk Down DLC can recapture the magic of the original remains to be seen, but fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
