British pop star Charli XCX and George Daniel, drummer of the band The 1975, have officially married in a small, private ceremony at Hackney Town Hall in London.
The wedding took place on Saturday, July 19, with only close family and friends in attendance. Among the guests were Charli’s parents and some of Daniel’s bandmates, though The 1975’s frontman Matty Healy was not present.
Photos from the day show the couple smiling and sharing a kiss on the steps of the town hall. Charli wore a silky, off-the-shoulder midi dress and a classic tulle veil, completing her look with chunky black sunglasses after leaving the venue. Daniel wore a simple suit.
A Longtime Creative and Romantic Partnership
The couple first met through music. In 2021, they worked together on the song “Spinning”, a collaboration between Charli XCX, The 1975, and No Rome. Their romantic relationship became public in May 2022 when Daniel supported Charli during her Saturday Night Live performance.
They announced their engagement in November 2023, with Charli sharing the news on Instagram. Her post featured photos of the couple embracing, along with a caption saying, “charli xcx and george daniel f—ing for life!!!”
Since then, the pair have continued to collaborate musically. Daniel contributed to parts of Charli’s sixth studio album, Brat, which was released on June 7, 2025.
In a Spout Podcast interview, Charli explained that working with Daniel changed her creative process. She said she has learned to slow down and spend more time refining her music, inspired by how Daniel and his band work.
In an earlier interview with Rolling Stone UK, Charli described their work dynamic as intense but positive. “We want to impress each other,” she said, adding humorously, “I’m actually such a bitch in the studio with George.” Despite the playful comment, she emphasized that they support each other creatively and give each other space to grow.

Charli XCX, whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison, is known for songs like “Party 4 U”, “Von Dutch”, and her critically acclaimed album Brat. George Daniel is a founding member of The 1975, one of the UK’s most popular pop-rock bands.
The couple has not made any official public statements about their marriage beyond the photos, but fans have shared and celebrated images of their special day across social media.
