Bluesky Update 1.96 Brings Better Notifications

Bluesky just got a lot more user-friendly with its latest update, version 1.96.

The app now features a dedicated mentions tab in the notifications area, making it much easier to track replies and conversations you’re tagged in.

This new addition helps streamline your interactions on the platform. Instead of scrolling through all your notifications, you can now quickly find mentions and jump into discussions.

Customizing Replies
The update also introduces new settings for managing how replies appear. You can choose between a linear view, where replies are listed one after another, or a threaded view, similar to Reddit, where replies are organized into indented threads.

Additionally, you can sort replies by newest, oldest, most-liked, “hot,” or even “random” (dubbed “Poster’s Roulette” by Bluesky).

Username Security
For users who set a custom domain as their username, Bluesky now reserves your old .bsky.social name to prevent others from claiming it.

This is a handy feature to protect your online identity, although it wasn’t retroactively applied to earlier custom domain users.

With these changes, Bluesky continues to refine its platform, offering better tools for conversation tracking and personalization.

Update your app to version 1.96 today and explore the new features.
