Apple is reportedly planning to upgrade the MacBook Pro lineup twice in 2026, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.

In his Power On newsletter, Gurman said Apple will first release updated MacBook Pro models with new M5 Pro and M5 Max chips in the first half of the year.

Later in 2026, Apple is expected to introduce a major redesign of the MacBook Pro. These new models could feature an OLED touch screen, a thinner design, and new M6 Pro and M6 Max chips.

The redesigned MacBook Pro may also include a Dynamic Island and built-in cellular connectivity. While late 2026 is the current target, Gurman noted that a 2027 launch has not been fully ruled out.

Apple has upgraded the MacBook Pro twice in a single year before. In 2023, the company launched M2 Pro and M2 Max models in January, followed by M3 Pro and M3 Max versions in October.

Apple is also expected to update other Mac products this year. The MacBook Air is likely to receive the standard M5 chip, while the Mac Studio could be updated with M5 Max and M5 Ultra chips.

In addition, Apple reportedly plans to launch a lower-cost MacBook powered by an iPhone chip. This model is expected to use a version of the A18 Pro chip found in the iPhone 16 Pro.

Apple may unveil some of these new Macs as early as this week, possibly alongside the launch of its new Creator Studio app bundle on January 28.
