Apple could have a chance to bring back one of its most unique phones: the iPhone mini. First launched in 2020 with the iPhone 12 mini, the small phone packed high-end features in a compact 5.4-inch body.
It continued with the iPhone 13 mini in 2021, but the series ended there. Now, new reports and shifts in Apple’s product plans suggest the mini might return.
The original iPhone mini had a loyal fan base. Many users liked the small size, but the phone didn’t sell well. A major reason was its price.
At $699, it was only $100 cheaper than larger models, yet had a shorter battery life. For many people, the tradeoff wasn’t worth it.
Apple now sells the iPhone 16e at $599, which is more affordable. If Apple creates a smaller version of this phone—let’s say an “iPhone 16e mini”—and prices it around $499, it could attract more buyers. At that price, people may accept the smaller size and battery.
Another reason this idea makes sense is timing. Apple is reportedly planning to release future iPhones in two waves.
Starting in 2026, Pro models may come in the fall, and standard models may launch in the spring. This could give a future “iPhone 18e mini” a better spotlight.
Apple already has the research and design from earlier mini models, so bringing the phone back would not be too hard. While there is no official news yet, many Apple fans still want a smaller iPhone.
If Apple listens, the iPhone mini could return—this time, with a better price and stronger appeal.
