Google CEO Sundar Pichai has hinted at a significant transformation for Google Search, slated for 2025.

Speaking at the NYT DealBook Summit, Pichai said, “We’re tackling more complex questions than ever before. By early 2025, Search will deliver capabilities far beyond what it can do today.”

In response to Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s earlier remark that Google should’ve been the “default winner” in AI, Pichai defended Google’s position.

He highlighted that Microsoft relies on OpenAI models, while Google continues to innovate independently.

Google’s ongoing AI-driven overhaul of Search has already introduced features like AI-generated search summaries and video-based search via Google Lens.

Looking ahead, the company plans to release an update to its Gemini AI model, further intensifying its competition with OpenAI, Microsoft, and Perplexity.

Pichai emphasized that Google is at the “state of the art” in AI development, promising even greater innovation to redefine the search experience.
