F1 the Movie Could Be the Sleekest Oscar Contender… But Will It Win?

3
F1: The Movie

F1 the Movie, starring Brad Pitt and directed by Joseph Kosinski, is now in Oscar conversations.

The film is a slick, high-tech ode to Formula One racing. It puts viewers in the driver’s seat using new camera technology.

While it impresses visually, most experts say it’s a long shot for Best Picture. It’s currently a 200-1 outsider alongside films like The Secret Agent.

Brad Pitt’s performance gives the movie star power, appealing to middle-aged racing fans. But the car, and the sensation of speed, steals the show.

The film has not made the North American top 10 box office of 2025, ranking 14th. Its Apple TV+ release may have limited its cinema impact.

Still, the movie delivers a thrilling ride, similar to Top Gun: Maverick but on four wheels. Kosinski’s direction emphasizes visual spectacle over drama or human struggle.

Winning an Oscar would be a huge upset, but getting a nomination is already a success. For now, fans can enjoy the speed, tech, and Brad Pitt without worrying about a winners’ speech.
