Everton Football Club is in advanced negotiations to sign 20-year-old Belgian winger Malick Fofana from Olympique Lyonnais, with an official bid already submitted. The Premier League side is also in discussions over personal terms with the player.
Fofana, who joined Lyon from Gent in January 2024, enjoyed an impressive 2024–25 season, scoring 11 goals and providing 6 assists in 41 appearances across all competitions. His performances have drawn attention from several top clubs, including Liverpool and Chelsea, but Everton is currently leading the race for his signature.
Lyon, facing financial difficulties, is open to selling the young attacker. If the deal goes through, Fofana could become Everton’s most expensive signing of the summer, surpassing their recent acquisition of striker Thierno Barry.
The move reflects Everton’s strategy under manager David Moyes to rebuild the squad with promising young talent. The club is also reportedly close to signing Adam Aznou, a young defender from Bayern Munich, as part of this broader recruitment drive.
Known for his pace, versatility, and attacking flair, Fofana is expected to boost Everton’s creativity and goal threat ahead of the 2025–26 Premier League season, which begins soon.
