Samsung has introduced its first Fan Edition foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE, alongside the more premium Galaxy Z Flip 7 and Z Fold 7 models. With a starting price of $899, it is Samsung’s cheapest foldable phone to date, offering many of the features found in last year’s Galaxy Z Flip 6 at a more affordable price.
Familiar Design With Slight Downgrades
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE closely follows the design and specs of the Galaxy Z Flip 6. It features a 3.4-inch cover screen and a 6.7-inch foldable main display. The cover screen has a 720×748 resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and peak brightness of 1,600 nits. The inner screen supports HDR10+, offers a 120Hz variable refresh rate, and reaches 2,600 nits in brightness.
Samsung has used the Exynos 2400 processor—first introduced in the Galaxy S24—making it slightly slower than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 found in the Z Flip 6. Despite the slower chip, most other specs remain unchanged.
Cameras and AI Features
The phone comes with a 50MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 10MP front-facing camera. All cameras can record 4K video at 60 frames per second, and the device supports Super HDR and HDR10+ video recording.
Out of the box, the Z Flip 7 FE runs Android 16 with One UI 8. It includes Samsung’s Galaxy AI tools, such as Call Assist, Note Assist, Generative Wallpaper, and Interpreter Mode. Samsung has committed to seven years of Android updates and security patches, the same as its premium models.
Battery and Build
The device has a 4,000mAh battery, supporting 25W wired and 15W wireless charging, and is Qi2 Ready for newer wireless charging standards. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and USB 3.2 Type-C.
The phone is built using Armor Aluminum with Gorilla Glass Victus 2 on the cover display and back. It has an IP48 rating for limited dust and water resistance. Weighing 187g, it measures 13.7mm thick when folded and 6.9mm when unfolded.
Pricing and Availability
The Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE is priced at $899 for the 128GB model and is also available with 256GB storage. Both versions come with 8GB of RAM. Pre-orders begin today, and the phone will be available in black and white starting July 29 in select markets.
