Samsung will hold its Galaxy Unpacked event on Wednesday, July 9, in Brooklyn, New York. The event starts at 14:00 UTC and will be livestreamed on Samsung’s website and YouTube. This mid-year showcase will focus mainly on new foldable phones and smartwatches.
Foldable Phones: Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Z Flip7 FE
Samsung’s new foldable lineup includes the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and a more affordable Z Flip7 FE.
Galaxy Z Fold7 aims to be Samsung’s thinnest and lightest horizontal foldable yet. Rumors say it will be around 8.9mm thick when folded and weigh 215g, a big drop from the previous model’s 239g. It will feature a 200MP main camera, with additional cameras similar to earlier models.
The battery remains 4,400mAh, expected to last over 40 hours per charge. The phone will run on a Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, come with 12GB RAM, and offer storage options from 256GB to 1TB. Pricing is expected to start at around €2,200. It will be available in Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, and Jet Black.
Galaxy Z Flip7 offers a slimmer design than its predecessor, with a larger 4.1-inch cover display and a 4,300mAh battery, up 300mAh from last year. It will likely come with Samsung’s new Exynos 2500 processor or a Snapdragon 8 Elite variant for some regions. Storage options include 256GB and 512GB with 12GB RAM. Colors include Jet Black, Blue Shadow, and Coral Red.
Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is a budget-friendly version with a smaller 3.4-inch cover display and a 4,000mAh battery. It features an older Exynos 2400 chipset, 8GB RAM, and storage choices of 128GB or 256GB. Available colors are Black and White. The price is expected to be around €800.
All foldables will come with Samsung’s new One UI 8 software, based on Android 16.
Tri-Fold Phone Preview
Samsung is also expected to tease a tri-fold smartphone with a 6.49-inch cover screen and nearly 10-inch main display. However, this model will likely have very limited availability, sold only in Korea and China.
New Galaxy Watches: Watch8 Series
Samsung will launch three new smartwatches: Galaxy Watch8, Watch8 Classic, and Watch8 Ultra.
- The Watch8 Ultra has a “squircle” design with a rotating bezel and crown.
- Watch8 Classic also includes a crown but may not have a rotating bezel.
- The basic Watch8 has a simpler design with two buttons.
All watches will use the Exynos W1000 chip from last year. The Ultra will be 4G-only, while other models offer Bluetooth and 4G versions.
The new One UI 8 Watch software will bring health-focused features like bedtime guidance, vascular load tracking, antioxidants monitoring, and an advanced running coach. Battery life is slightly improved, with the Watch8 charging at 10W.
Availability and Pricing
Pre-orders for the new foldables and watches will begin July 9, with sales starting July 25. Samsung US is already offering early reservation bonuses, including a $50 coupon.
