Samsung has started rolling out a new software update for the Galaxy Watch 6 series, bringing the May 2025 security patch.
The update comes with build numbers R940XXS1BYE9 for the Galaxy Watch 6 and R960XXS1BYE9 for the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic. Its main focus is improving security and fixing minor issues to keep the watch running smoothly.
While this is a routine update, Samsung is also preparing something bigger. The company is actively testing the upcoming One UI 8 Watch update based on Wear OS 6.
This new software, currently in beta with firmware version R960XXU1CYF6 for the Watch 6 Classic, will bring a fresh design, smoother animations, better performance, and new features like improved battery-saving tools, an antioxidant tracker, and more watch faces.
Samsung expects to release One UI 8 Watch with Wear OS 6 later this year. The update will give the Galaxy Watch 6 a more modern look, matching the style of Samsung’s Galaxy phones.
Users can install the latest security update through the Galaxy Watch settings or by using the Samsung Wearables app on their phones. Those who want early access to the new features can join the One UI 8 Watch beta program before the official launch.
