Park Gyu-young, known for her role as a Pink Guard in Squid Game Season 2, shared insights into her character, No-eul, and the pressures of being part of such a widely discussed series.

In a recent interview, Park explained how she balanced the pressure of joining a global phenomenon with staying grounded.

Playing No-eul, a former soldier and North Korean defector searching for her daughter, Park focused on portraying emotional depth through a subdued performance.

She revealed that her casting came with immense responsibility, but she focused on doing her best and staying true to the character. “I hoped audiences would be surprised by me,” Park said, expressing her excitement over the positive reactions from viewers worldwide.

Building the Character of No-eul

Park emphasized her approach to the role, which involved reducing the intensity of her acting to portray a character at the edge of despair.

Director Hwang Dong-hyuk described No-eul as a “character whose flame has extinguished,” a sentiment Park brought to life with a quiet, restrained performance.

Behind the Scenes and Future of the Series

Although Park didn’t participate in the intense game scenes, she was inspired by the performances of her co-stars. She praised director Hwang’s clear vision, which created a productive and enjoyable atmosphere on set.

Looking ahead, Park teased that Squid Game Season 3 will address unresolved storylines and fully explain the world created by Hwang.

The new season has already become a global hit, ranking No. 1 in Netflix’s non-English TV series category and topping charts in 93 countries.
