George Harrison’s classic album Living in the Material World has experienced a staggering 12,000% increase in sales, thanks to a 50th-anniversary vinyl re-release.

Fans flocked to grab collectible editions of the album, which include bonus features like a book, a seven-inch vinyl single, and previously unreleased tracks.

In the past week, the album sold 6,800 copies in the U.S., compared to just 50 copies the week prior, according to Luminate.

This marks a massive resurgence for the former Beatle’s 1973 album, reaffirming its timeless appeal.

Billboard Chart Comeback

The re-release helped Living in the Material World debut on two Billboard charts. It landed at No. 16 on the Vinyl Albums chart, Harrison’s third appearance on the wax-exclusive tally, and at No. 17 on the Top Album Sales chart, his ninth entry on that list.

Though the album originally soared to the top of the Billboard 200 upon its release in the ’70s, its return shows the enduring legacy of George Harrison’s music and the enthusiasm of his fanbase.

Limited Editions Drive Demand

The anniversary editions were produced in limited quantities, driving the buying frenzy. The additional content, including rare tracks, made the release especially attractive to collectors and long-time fans of the “quiet Beatle.”
