Google Play Games Stuck in Update Loop, Fix in Progress

Google Play Store

Google Play Games users are experiencing an annoying bug where the app gets stuck in an update loop.

Despite having the latest version installed, the Play Store repeatedly prompts for an update.

Google acknowledged the issue as early as mid-October, adding it to its list of known problems.

In a community post, Google stated, “We’re aware of an issue where Google Play Games is incorrectly indicating an update is available. We’re working on a fix.” However, no timeline has been provided for the resolution.

Users report that the issue persists despite trying common fixes like clearing cache, reinstalling the app, or sideloading the latest APK.

The bug doesn’t impact the app’s functionality but makes manually checking for updates impossible.

For now, affected users are advised to wait for Google’s fix.
