Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker Introduces Orchid, a Chord Generating Synth for Musicians

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker has expanded his influence in the music world by introducing Orchid, a unique digital polysynthesizer aimed at helping musicians and producers explore new ideas.

Unlike traditional instruments, Orchid is designed as a chord generator that uses a unique chord logic system for enhanced creative expression.

The synthesizer features a 16-voice polyphonic synth engine with onboard effects and a separate bass synth engine for deep low-end sounds.

Orchid’s intuitive design allows users to select root notes and modify chords using a series of chord-type selecting keys and a patent-pending voicing system for re-pitching and re-positioning chords. Performance modes like Strum, Arpeggiator, and Pattern add versatility to its playability.

Created by Ignacio Germade of Telepathic Instruments, Orchid is designed to break the mold of rigid chord generators, providing an open platform for creativity.

Orchid will be released in December with 1,000 units available to US buyers at $549, with a broader launch planned for 2025.
