IMAX Uses AI to Expand Non-English Content Reach

IMAX has partnered with AI startup Camb.ai to translate its original content into multiple languages, including lesser-known ones.

Using Camb.ai’s Boli and Mars models, the technology ensures accurate translations while retaining original audio nuances, such as background music and ambient sounds.

This move comes as demand for non-English content grows, even in English-speaking countries.

Netflix, for example, reported a 90% increase in UK viewership for non-English shows over three years.

IMAX will roll out AI translations in stages, starting with widely spoken languages, to expand its global reach and reduce costs.

Camb.ai, backed by $4 million in seed funding, is also preparing for further growth to support this initiative.
