Rapper J. Cole shared two previously unreleased songs featuring Kendrick Lamar during episode four of his podcast “Inevitable“.

The tracks, “Shock the World” and “Temptation”, were recorded around 2010 when the two artists were considering a joint album.

Cole detailed their early collaboration, recalling they first met during a XXL Freshman cover shoot.

He mentioned sending Lamar beats, including the track “HiiiPoWeR”, and being surprised when Lamar expressed admiration for his work.

According to Cole, Lamar once told him he was “sleeping on himself” by casually offering the tracks. Lamar had previously played these songs during a fan meet and greet.

In additional news, Cole announced that the Dreamville Festival will celebrate its fifth anniversary in 2025, with presale tickets going on sale December 11 at 9 a.m. ET.

The podcast episode provides a rare glimpse into the early creative relationship between two of hip-hop’s most prominent artists.
