Google TV Adds New Share Option, But With a Major Flaw

Google TV App

Google TV’s latest update on Android and iOS adds a new share button for movies and TV shows, allowing users to send links to content.

However, there’s a key limitation: recipients need the Google TV app installed to open shared links.

Located in the top right corner of each movie or show page, the new share button generates a link and description for sharing.

But if the recipient doesn’t have Google TV installed, the link directs them to the app store. On desktop, links open the Google TV website, which lacks a full interface for viewing.

While helpful for users already on Google TV, the feature’s dependence on the app may limit its utility. The share option is now available on both Android and iOS.
