The Dark Meaning Behind J. Cole’s ‘She Knows’: Diddy, Beyonce & Other Controversies

J. Cole’s “She Knows” has recently ignited controversy due to its lyrics and a viral conspiracy theory linking the song to the deaths of Aaliyah, Lisa Lopes, and Michael Jackson.

The specific lines causing uproar are:

“Only bad thing ’bout a star is they burn up / Rest in peace to Aaliyah / Rest in peace to Left Eye / Michael Jackson, I’ll see ya / Just as soon as I die.”

These lyrics have led some fans to speculate about potential connections between the artists and Sean “Diddy” Combs, particularly following his recent arrest on sex crime charges.

The theory suggests that the song’s title, “She Knows,” is a play on Beyoncé’s last name, Knowles, implying her involvement in these tragic events. The song was removed from YouTube amid this controversy, with accusations that Roc Nation filed a DMCA takedown notice to silence speculation.

However, some argue that the removal is linked to a legal dispute between YouTube and SESAC, rather than an attempt at censorship.
