Apple has released iOS 18 beta 3, bringing several new features and changes to the platform.

Let’s explore the latest features and improvements from iOS 18 beta 3.

Dark Mode App Icons

iOS 18 beta 3 introduces dark mode app icons for third-party apps. This feature uses machine learning to convert app icons to dark mode, making them automatically switch to a darker color scheme when dark mode is enabled. This includes icons with white backgrounds turning black and simpler logos getting a darker tint.

Dynamic Wallpapers

The default iOS 18 wallpapers now include a “Dynamic” option that changes colors throughout the day. This feature adds a color-changing effect to the wallpaper, making it adapt to different times of the day.

Photos App Changes

The Photos app has received a minor yet functional upgrade. The “Select” button is now always visible, eliminating the need to swipe down to access it. Additionally, the pinch-to-zoom gesture has been reverted to work like previous iOS versions, making it easier to zoom in and out of photos.

Emoji Interface

The emoji, Memoji, and stickers interfaces have been combined into a unified interface with larger icons. This allows users to access all these features through icons placed at the bottom of the emoji keyboard. Users can also create stickers and Memoji directly from this interface.

Flashlight Interface Update

The flashlight interface has been redesigned with a larger, more intuitive control panel for adjusting brightness and beam width. This update is available for iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max users.

RCS Messaging Improvements

The RCS messaging settings in the Messages app now provide more details about the feature and its data usage. This includes information on how sending and receiving messages with RCS uses wireless data and may share cellular network identifiers with carriers and their partners.

These updates are part of Apple’s ongoing efforts to refine and enhance the iOS 18 platform, with more changes and improvements expected in future beta releases.
