Why Starfield Failed to Make Steam’s 2024 Rankings

Bethesda’s Starfield is absent from Steam’s 2024 “Best of” bestsellers list, a sharp contrast to its platinum-tier success in 2023.

Despite a strong launch in August 2023, the game appears to have lost momentum, failing to secure even a bronze-tier spot this year.

Valve’s rankings, which group games by sales tiers, highlight enduring hits like Baldur’s Gate 3 and Elden Ring, bolstered by updates and expansions.

Even older Bethesda titles like Fallout 4 remain popular, while Starfield seems to have struggled with long-term player retention.

The decline is notable given the game’s initial hype, though it never fully delivered on expectations.

With newer games like Path of Exile 2 and Stalker 2 dominating the charts, Starfield may need significant updates to recapture attention and avoid fading into the background.
