WhatsApp Rolls Out Advanced Privacy Options for Chats and Groups

WhatsApp Advanced Chat Privacy

WhatsApp has introduced a new feature called Advanced Chat Privacy, which gives users more control over their chat content.

This feature, which was leaked earlier this month, is now officially available in both one-on-one chats and group conversations. It allows users to prevent others from taking their content outside of WhatsApp, ensuring better privacy.

By enabling Advanced Chat Privacy, users can stop others from exporting chats, auto-downloading media, or using their messages for AI features.

WhatsApp explains that this feature gives everyone in the chat more confidence that their conversations won’t be shared beyond the app. Of course, screenshots remain a possible issue, but that’s a different story.

WhatsApp believes this feature will be especially useful in groups where users may not know everyone closely, but still need to keep sensitive information private. Examples include health support groups or community organizing efforts.

To activate the feature, users can tap on the chat name and then select “Advanced Chat Privacy.” WhatsApp also mentioned that this is just the first version of the feature, with plans to add more privacy protections in the future.
