Tokyo Xtreme Racer Combines Need For Speed and Midnight Club in New Racing Sim

If you’re a fan of Need For Speed or Midnight Club, you’re in for a treat with the upcoming Tokyo Xtreme Racer.

Developed by Genki, this new racing game is set to launch in early access on January 23, 2025, on PC via Steam. The game promises a thrilling new experience outside the usual Gran Turismo and Forza offerings.

    A Racing Legacy

Tokyo Xtreme Racer has a rich history, with its origins dating back to Shutokō Battle ’94: Drift King for the Super Famicom.

Despite being a long-awaited return for Genki to console racing (though it’s PC-only this time), it’s clear that the studio is moving away from mobile releases and back to its roots.

What to Expect in Early Access

When the game enters early access, players will get access to half of the story, featuring over 200 rival characters, 50 playable cars, and 180 kilometers of the Shuto Expressway.

A major highlight is the new “Spirit Point Battle” and car tuning system, allowing players to improve their skills—a first for the franchise.

    Full Launch Features

Upon full release, Tokyo Xtreme Racer will unlock the entire narrative, adding more character storylines and vehicles.

Set in a futuristic Tokyo, players will race on the city’s highways to claim the title of the fastest driver.

You can wishlist the game on Steam now and prepare for its early access launch later this month.
