After months of testing, Foto, a new photo-sharing social media platform, has officially launched on Android and iOS.
Designed to bring back the pure photography experience, Foto offers a chronological feed and eliminates the algorithm-driven clutter found on mainstream platforms like Instagram. Unlike Instagram, Foto is strictly for photo sharing—there are no videos, Reels, or ads.
The platform also hides follower counts and like counts, aiming to create a pressure-free space for users to focus on photography rather than social validation. Users can explore photos through searchable tags and create their own Portfolio, which acts as a personal gallery.
Foto follows a freemium model, where basic features are free, but users can subscribe to Foto Ambassador for $5/month, $50/year, or $500 for lifetime access. These prices will rise in March 2025, with the addition of a Pro+ tier at $10/month, offering unlimited Portfolio creation.
Despite an 18-month beta phase and 16,000 early users, Foto is still a relatively quiet social space—but for photography lovers looking for an ad-free, distraction-free experience, this could be the fresh alternative they’ve been waiting for.
Foto is now available for download on the Google Play Store and App Store.
