TikTok Faces Shutdown in the US Without App Store Updates

TikTok is currently unavailable in the US, with Apple and Google refusing to list the app on their stores.

This follows a new executive order signed by President Trump, which temporarily suspends the enforcement of a law that could have led to TikTok’s ban or forced sale.

The executive order, signed on January 18, gives TikTok some relief, allowing it to operate for now.

However, Apple and Google are still hesitant, not offering the app for download or updates on their platforms. This means US users can no longer download TikTok or get new updates if they already have the app.

Despite this, Oracle, a cloud provider, has not pulled support for TikTok in the US. There has been talk of Oracle buying TikTok’s operations, with Trump suggesting that Oracle’s founder, Larry Ellison, could take over the app. But no deal has been confirmed yet.

Legal experts warn that the uncertainty could lead to problems. Without updates, TikTok may stop working for US users as operating systems evolve.

Experts also say that the legal situation is still unclear, and there are concerns about possible lawsuits against companies involved with TikTok.

Apple and Google’s actions show they are waiting for more clarity before making any moves. Until then, TikTok’s future in the US remains uncertain.
