Netflix has officially canceled The Recruit, the spy thriller starring Noah Centineo, after just two seasons. The decision comes less than six weeks after the second season premiered in late January.
Colton Dunn, who played Lester Kitchens in the series, first shared the news on social media, and Netflix later confirmed the cancellation.
The Recruit debuted in December 2022 and followed Owen Hendricks, a young CIA lawyer who gets caught up in dangerous international conflicts after a former asset threatens to expose classified secrets. The show was created by Alexi Hawley and produced by Lionsgate and Hypnotic.
Despite the cancellation, The Recruit performed well on Netflix’s charts. It reached number two on Nielsen’s streaming rankings and attracted millions of viewers in its first two weeks. However, the show faced challenges, including delays caused by the writers’ strike and a reduced episode count in its second season.
Fans had hoped for a third season, especially after the dramatic season two finale, but Netflix has decided to end the series. Noah Centineo, who starred and served as an executive producer, has not yet commented on the cancellation.
