Spotify to Launch New “Time Machine” Feature.

Spotify, the popular music streaming service, is reportedly working on a new feature that will let users see detailed data about their monthly listening habits.

Called the “time machine”, this new section of the Spotify app will provide users with monthly statistics on the artists, songs, albums and total minutes they streamed the most.

For example, at the end of each month, Spotify users would be able to see which artist they listened to the most that month, what their most played song was, which album they streamed the most, and how many total minutes they spent streaming music.

The time machine would keep track of these monthly listening insights over time, allowing users to look back and compare how their music taste and habits have changed.

Music fans are always curious to see hard data on their most played artists and tracks. Many Spotify users already enjoy the app’s annual “Wrapped” feature that recaps their listening for the entire year.

The new time machine feature would essentially provide a bite-sized version of Wrapped, but refreshed every month instead of yearly.

There is a freemium app called Stats.fm which lets Spotify users do the same as well. Fans are speculating that this new Spotify feature will put the app out of business for sure.

While Spotify hasn’t officially announced the time machine feature yet, reports indicate it could launch for users across the app’s mobile and desktop platforms sometime in the coming months.

For music fans looking to take a monthly deep dive into their streaming habits, Spotify’s time machine promises to satisfy that curiosity.
