A final, posthumous album by the experimental pop artist Sophie will be released on September 27, 2024, her family has announced.

The self-titled record, which was nearly completed at the time of her death in 2021 at the age of 34, will feature collaborations with her most cherished collaborators, including Kim Petras and BC Kingdom.

The album was “lovingly finalised by those who hold her closest”, including Sophie’s brother and frequent creative partner Ben Long. Long revealed in a 2021 interview that Sophie had an extensive catalog of unreleased tracks, numbering in the hundreds, that were created before her untimely death.

Sophie’s family expressed that the album would narrate her musical odyssey, noting that she rarely discussed her personal life publicly, choosing instead to convey her thoughts through her music. The first single from the album, “Reason Why”, featuring Kim Petras and BC Kingdom, was recently released.

Born in Glasgow, Sophie Xeon was one of the most in-demand producers in pop, working with artists like Madonna, Diplo, Vince Staples, Camila Cabello, and Charli XCX. Her debut album “Oil Of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides” received a Grammy nomination for best dance/electronic album in 2018.

Sophie’s influence has permeated pop since her death, with artists like St Vincent, Caroline Polacheck, Charli XCX, and AG Cook releasing songs paying tribute to her impact on their careers.
